Sweet Victory for British Circus Animals!

I’m thrilled to write this post. I complain about the circus all the time and recently the ASPCA was sued over what they said about animal cruelty in the circus (who the F sues the ASPCA?!). England has gotten it right though! They have made a move in Parliament to ban the use of wild animals in the circus starting in 2015. There was overwhelming support for this by the British public.

When one stops to think about it, the circus is horribly cruel. The tricks animals perform are for starters NOT fun for them and second of all they are often very painful for them for perform! Elephants aren’t meant to be stuck in a cage and dragged across the country. They are meant to be in the wild covered in dirt and mud…not face paint and idiotic props. The circus has angered me for a long time and I only went to one once. Never again. These poor poor animals are FINALLY being saved. Time for American to jump on the band wagon please!

What Does Love Mean? The Sweetest Responses

A group of children ages 4-8 years old were asked what love means. Their responses are better, deeper, and truer than the responses you get from most adults. It’s amazing that at such a young age, love is still evident to everyone. Here are a few of the sweetest responses:

“When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You just know that your name is safe in their mouth.” -Billy (age 4)

.
“Love is what’s in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen.” -Bobby (age 7)

.
“Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it everyday.” -Noelle (age 7)

.

“Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone all day.” -Mary Ann (age 4)

.

“Love is like a little old woman and a little old man who are still friends even after they know each other so well.” -Tommy (age 6)

Sweet Beasts

I’m on a stumbling rampage right now. That’s what snow does to me.

98412I found a page that had 6 ADORABLE stories of pet beasts. There is a story of a young boy who is best friends with a 20 foot python. A man with a pet hippo (hippos are the most dangerous animals in Africa…keep that in mind). There is a man who has a lion friend and a couple other really great bonds.

I love this stuff. I think it goes to show that it doesn’t matter who or what you are, if there is a special bond there, it’s there. Always cherish your relationships, whether they are with a 20 foot snake or your mother. They are important and they are beautiful.

I want a panda best friend!

The Sweetest Thing I’ve Stumbled Upon…

It’s a long snowy day. I have a bit of cabin fever, so I’ve been stumbling (stumbleupon.com). I just stumbled upon the sweetest story I’ve seen in a long time. I felt it needed to be shared.

ImageIt’s a love story told only with pictures, but you’ll get it. It expresses the kind of love more people to need find. An absolutely beautiful story.

I know this blog is about smiling and this will definitely make you smile, but I’ll warn you now: there might be a tear or two.

Mix Up Sweet Simple Recipes

Baking a nice simple batch of anything is always satisfying. It’s quick and delicious. However, you should have fun with simple recipes. Mix it up! You can make something so simple into something so delicious with just a couple extra steps.

Shortbread is always super easy. It’s just 3 ingredients and doesn’t take very much effort. So, with that extra time you now have…do something fun with it!

I coated my shortbread with chocolate. Some milk chocolate and some dark. Then, I drizzled white chocolate onto them before the first layer of chocolate hardened. It made them so look pretty and as simple as the recipe was…this was no simple flavor.  I sent this batch to my grandma and grandpa (so wholesome) as a little birthday gift. They love their shortbread and they said, “That was by far the best shortbread I have ever tasted.” So, I think it worked 🙂

I used Lindt chocolate bars for the chocolate. I find that they melt really well and obviously Lindt is amazing (any chocolate lover knows this).
